Valle Gran Rey
Valle Gran Rey – this site, which means “Valley of the Great King” in Spanish, is a valley at the western side of the island that’s open to the sea with endless terrace fields, countless palm trees, extensive banana plantations and many scattered small houses. Right through the middle, the main road GM-1 winds from Garajonay National Park all the way down to the village of La Calera. Its Mirador offers a view of a lush valley where the palm tree reigns supreme. An area whose green shoots of recovery were quick to show after 2012’s devastating forest fires.
